Bill Powers Old Growth

Old Growth is a new assembly of long time regulars of the central oregon music scene- A new group formed by Bill Powers of Honey Don’t and Silvertone Devils – Honey Don’t is on hiatus this year and Old Growth is filling that space. Joining Bill are Matthew “Mai” Hyman on electric guitars(Oregon Fryer, Trance Folk, Stringbenders), Tyler Mason (Silvertone Devils)on electric bass, and Dave Ehle on snare. Casey Willis(Skillethead) is also involved bringing the fiddle and mandolin to the sound when stars align. The intention is to delve into Powers’ original catalog and pull out some material that’s been peacefully resting a waiting for the right time, as well as choice covers and tradition tunes. Mai’s music and singing will be featured as well. It’s the right time for this bunch to come together and there’s an undeniable spark happening from the get go. There’s twang, grit, sweet and savory, boogie and woogie too. Wednesday Feb 4th at 7pm is the Bend debut folks. Introducing “Bill Powers Old Growth” !
