Chewtoy is a six-piece group led by composer Carl Royce, a recent transplant to the Bend music scene from the city of Los Angeles. Royce is a multi-instrumentalist with an eclectic musical history and a sly, creative bent. Onstage, Chewtoy delivers a polished mix of Worldbeat, Post-rock, and melodic Jazz fusion. The band’s performances typically include a couple of obscure but recognizable cover tunes, rearranged for the “Chewgaze” genre.
Chewtoy features Jim Tennant on trumpet, flugelhorn, and trombone, Michael Carney on keyboards, Blake Lowrey-Evans on guitar, Tom Rodhouse on percussion, Dan Gaxiola on drums, and Carl Royce on double bass and electronics.
